And so begins the 74th Alternian Hunger Games.

A tradition that happens once a year to punish the eight districts of Alternia for their ancestral binding with humans, two tributes, one male and one female, is offered from each district to take part in the Hunger Games, a fight to the death for the entertainment of the people and to remind all that Her Imperial Condesce has power over their entire lives.

This year’s games have an additional rule - each tribute is assigned a title consising of a class and an aspect, and no tribute is permitted to harm or kill another who shares part of their title, except in deadlock circumstances.  

This year’s tributes from each district are as follows:

I noticed some Hungerstuck was cropping up and remembered this was sat in my drafts from about a month ago. It’s basically that the districts are cut down a little to fit the number of tributes (this was before I had really warmed to the Alpha kids, though I might switch around and add them in) and also the titles had more meaning. Like, what with Dave being the Knight of Time, both Aradia and Karkat could team up with him if they wanted, but at the same time Aradia is allowed to kill Karkat, and anyone that Dave teams up with (in my original plans he stuck with John) could kill both Aradia and Karkat. It’s not just about forging allegiances, but forging the RIGHT allegiances.

As I remember it, characters like Eridan and Sollux and Tavros died quite early on, and also Terezi and Vriska were the ones to watch out for, though they eventually killed each other too. Jade was badly injured at the Cornucopia and Rose and Kanaya looked after her until she passed away. Some other stuff happened that I don’t remember but I might rewrite, but Aradia was the winner in the end (although not by choice). Also, ever tribute’s weapon was their strife specibus because I was too lazy to think of any alternative, even though the lower districts wouldn’t have any combat training at all.
